Finding Direction in Life

I love the spring, its always amazing to see how nature comes back to life after a dormant winter.

This week, I’ve been deeply contemplating about finding direction in life. Whether it's ten years from now or just in the next moment, there's always a search for clarity—figuring out what to do next. If I had to sum up this journey in one word, it would be:

Direction

Sometimes, it’s challenging to know which way to turn. Personally, there have been times when I wished for a blueprint—someone to tell me exactly what I need to do. But the truth is, no one has the blueprint for my life because they haven’t lived it. In reality, we’re all trying to navigate the newness of each moment.

In my earlier post, “Just Be: Surrender to God,” I discussed the importance of accepting ourselves as we are. The value of our lives isn’t defined by success or purpose; rather, it lies in our presence here and our opportunity to know God and connect with others. It’s about the experience of living.

The concept of being still and knowing resonates deeply with this idea. I believe we often entertain grand thoughts about what we should achieve and the timelines we should follow. However, if we take a moment to pause, look inward, and align ourselves with the guidance we hear in that stillness, life can become less painful and more enjoyable.

As these reflections have weighed on my heart, I’ve been intentionally creating moments of stillness to ask myself: “Danae, what’s next? What should we do right now? What is it that you truly desire?”

These questions help me live more wholeheartedly and show up authentically. My actions are not dictated by others’ opinions or perspectives; they spring from the quiet place within my heart.

Living truthfully takes practice.

It’s about learning how to listen to the stillness, understanding it, and then acting accordingly. It means not allowing the views of others to shape how we present ourselves. It involves getting to know ourselves and committing to the work needed for our well-being.

There’s a verse in the Bible that says,

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10).

This verse calls us to surrender to the ultimate authority that God has over our lives. When we take the time to be still, we become more attuned to His voice. He speaks to our very being and empowers us to move forward in the strength of who He has created us to be.

No one can chart your life path or direct your journey because it was not ordained for them to walk. The direction you seek can only emerge from an intentional stillness and a commitment to align with that inner knowing.

Finding Direction in life calls for stillness.
